Geo Educational Centre

GEO EDUCATIONAL CENTRE

architecture & landscape | geoheritage | coexisting

To promote the preservation and publicity of geoheritage in Hong Kong, a Geo Educational Centre is proposed to stand on the western edge of Tung Ping Chau, one of the Geo-zones in the territory. It is the representation of the triangular coexisting relationship among rock, organism and human being. The architectural form captures the essence of local sedimentary rock – a flat-inclined and layered structure, to simulate rocks overlapping along the beach. The centre is integrated into the island not only visually, but also by a passive environmental system to support its daily operation and minimizing the destruction of natural habitat to the least.
